A Guest from Hungary on 3D Printing

Gość z Węgier o druku 3D

On Tuesday, March 15, Marianna Zichar, PhD, DSc, ProfTit from the University of Debrecen in Hungary led a class at the Faculty of Social and Technical Sciences of the Jan Wyżykowski University in Polkowice on the use of 3D printing technology and its future. Professor Zichar was visiting UJW as part of the Erasmus program. She works at the Faculty of Computer Science at the University of Debrecen and her research focuses, among other things, on the use of 3D printing technology. Participants in the class included students from the United Nations of Europe School Complex in Polkowice. They explored areas where necessary components can be printed, ranging from a bird’s beak to dental implants, medical prostheses, and even items for personal use. “The lecture, delivered in English, generated a great deal of interest,” says Jan Walczak, PhD, Dean of the Faculty of Social and Technical Sciences at UJW. “The participants’ engagement was reflected in the questions they asked and the discussion, which developed in an interesting way. 3D printing is still a technology of the future, but it will also be part of everyday life for future generations. Experts in this field will be essential. At UJW, we are aware of this; we have a dedicated laboratory equipped with 3D printing technology for use in our classes,” emphasizes the Dean. UJW collaborates with the University of Debrecen as part of the Erasmus program. As a result, lecturers and students from UJW regularly visit Hungary.
