On February 28, the first diploma exams of the year were held at the Lubin Branch Campus. Graduates of the Mining and Geology program and one graduate of the Management and Production Engineering program defended their engineering theses. Everyone passed their exams successfully and will soon receive their college diplomas. Congratulations!

On that day, the exam began at 1:00 p.m. Seventeen people took the exam. The examination committee consisted of: Anna Wojciechowicz, BEng, PhD Jerzy Szymański, BEng, PhD Wojciech Kaczmarek, BEng, PhD Paweł Stefanek, and Mirosław Lewicki, BEng, PhD. Despite pre-exam jitters, we managed to have a brief conversation with one of the graduates, Klaudia Pietrowicz, BEng

Klaudia Pietrowicz, BEng -Ms. Klaudia, you’re in the home stretch – the exam is today! How do you look back on your time as a student? -It was an interesting experience for me, probably also because my class consisted almost entirely of men. Besides me, there was only one other girl, and on top of that, we weren’t even in the same seminar group.  -So why did you choose such a “male-dominated” field of study? -My choice of major was basically a natural progression from the educational and career path I’d already chosen. I’m an underground mining technician and I work at KGHM; completing my degree is an opportunity for me to advance my career. -Were these studies difficult for you? Which of the professors will you remember most? -It was difficult, and I’ll be honest, time-consuming – I devoted a lot of time to my studies. Balancing my studies, family life, and work is demanding, but it’s very rewarding. As for the professors, I really appreciate the Dean; I owe her the most, because it’s thanks to her that I persevered until the end. The Dean gives us students a lot of strength and tremendous support, and you can always count on her – whether it’s 7 a.m. or 7 p.m., she’s always there to help. We wish you, Ms. Engineer, and all the other graduates much success and congratulate you on completing your higher education! We encourage all engineers to keep the momentum going and continue their education in the master’s program in Mining and Geology – we’re waiting for you!
