Engineers with degrees

Sixty newly minted engineers received their diplomas. The top graduates were honored by the university’s Rector. Graduates from the following programs left our university: mining and geology, management and production engineering, logistics, computer science, and mechatronics. The top students received honors from the Rector. To qualify, they had to achieve the highest cumulative GPA over the course of their 3.5-year studies. “Presenting diplomas to our graduates is a tremendous honor for me and brings me great joy. Mining and geology is our flagship program. Holding the ceremony and awarding diplomas right here in Lubin is meant to emphasize this,” says Tadeusz Kierzyk, PhD, DSc, ProfTit, Rector of the Jan Wyżykowski University. “This year we’re celebrating the 20th anniversary of our university – it’s a good time to take stock. More than 2,000 engineers have already graduated from our university.” The engineers assure us that they will continue their studies. Most of them will remain at UJW. “The program was demanding, but the atmosphere at UJW definitely made up for the hard work.” “I’m going to take a year off now to rest a bit, but I’ll be back here for my master’s degree,” says Kamil Zieńczuk, a graduate of the Mining program with a specialization in Mining Machinery and Equipment. Agata Czuba, also a graduate of the Mining program, feels the same way. “These were very good years spent at the university. I’ll certainly have fond memories of the university. Despite the demanding program, we always felt the support of our professors. That means a lot to me. I’ll definitely want to continue my studies here,” she says. The academic efforts of the engineers were recognized by the copper mining company. Outstanding graduates and students received scholarships from KGHM Polska Miedź S.A. covering one semester’s tuition, as well as certificates and gifts from the university’s partner. “Engineering studies are a challenge, but our students are handling it perfectly. They are ambitious people whom we support in their development, as evidenced by the certificates awarded. KGHM supports our university. We have a signed agreement with the company regarding dual education. Together, we offer degree programs in mining and geology,” said Anna Wojciechowicz, BEng, PhD, Dean of the UJW Branch Campus. Marek Wachnik, head of the recruitment team at the copper mining company, presented the KGHM certificates to this year’s scholarship recipients. This year’s ceremony took place in Lubin, at our university’s branch campus.
