On June 28, 2022, our University signed a cooperation agreement with Zagłębie Lubin. The meeting, which took place at the club’s headquarters, was attended by Tadeusz Kierzyk, PhD, DSc, ProfTit, Michał Kielan, President of Zagłębie, and Adam Michalik, Director of the Legnica Subdistrict of the West Pomeranian Football Association (DZPN). This new agreement serves as a foundation for tackling joint challenges and initiatives, as well as for exchanging knowledge and experience. There are many areas for cooperation. These include, among others, technology transfer and the implementation of research projects, the promotion of modern technical and organizational solutions, facilitating internships and apprenticeships, and organizing conferences, academic seminars, courses, training programs, and postgraduate studies. And it is precisely the postgraduate program in Sports Management that will be the first major initiative we will carry out jointly with Zagłębie Lubin, with the support and under the patronage of the Lower Silesian Football Association.

“I am pleased to lead a regional university that meets the expectations of employers. “We recently signed a framework agreement with the entire KGHM Group, but I am pleased that we will be working closely with a club that has such a long tradition in the copper region,” the rector commented on the signing of the agreement.

And what is the purpose of the program, which is set to begin soon?

“Our goal is to strengthen the capabilities of people involved in sports in our region. The stronger and more efficiently managed our clubs – both large and small – are, the stronger Zagłębie Lubin will be. “I am convinced that our collaboration will result in raising the level of sports both in the Copper Basin and in Lower Silesia,” said Zagłębie president Michał Kielan at a press conference.

Our postgraduate program, titled “Sports Management,” is designed for individuals who plan to pursue a career as a sports administrator or who wish to do so.

-I’m glad that we’ll be able to launch this postgraduate program right here in Lubin, in the heart of the Copper Basin sports region. “This is a place that holds a strong position on Poland’s sports map, not only in soccer but also in other sports,” said Adam Michalik, director of the Legnica Subdistrict of the DZPN, summarizing the signing of the agreement.
