Jan Wyżykowski University has signed a cooperation agreement with the Bolesław Krzywousty High School No. 1 in Głogów. For the university, this is the seventh agreement with an educational institution in our region, through which joint projects and initiatives will be carried out. For young people, this is a valuable experience not only in developing their interests but also in choosing a career path. “This agreement is important – very important,” emphasizes Tadeusz Kierzyk, PhD, Rector of the Jan Wyżykowski University. “I believe that the university’s role is also to show high school students the appeal of higher education and the opportunities available in the job market.” The high school in Głogów is the best. It has always been prestigious; it represents the highest standard in its city, is a leading institution in the Lower Silesian Voivodeship, and has numerous achievements on the national level. This is a huge benefit for us. We hope that we can spark young people’s interest in our university,” he adds. High School No. 1 in Głogów is the seventh school in our region with which Jan Wyżykowski University has signed a cooperation agreement. – “For our students, this agreement is first and foremost an opportunity to interact with academic staff and become familiar with the language of instruction, which is an invaluable experience,” says Janusz Kosałka, principal of High School No. 1 in Głogów. “We also hope to be able to make use of the university’s teaching facilities, particularly its laboratories. All students will benefit from this agreement, as we will also be able to utilize the university’s humanities departments and administrative offices,” he notes. A detailed schedule for the collaboration will be developed in the near future. “We are in contact with teachers at High School No. 1, who are expressing a need in certain areas,” says Jan Walczak, Dean of the Faculty of Social and Technical Sciences at UJW. “Proposals have been submitted for classes in physics, chemistry, mining, and geology. We will try to offer these types of workshops or lab sessions, as well as lectures in two different formats.” On the one hand, we’ll be able to conduct these sessions at the high school, and on the other, we’ll invite students to visit us at our laboratories,” he adds. The signed cooperation agreements may bring tangible benefits not only to students at High School No. 1 in Głogów. After receiving their high school diplomas, graduates of high schools and technical schools can pursue their interests in one of the 10 fields of study at UJW.
