Opening Ceremony of the 2022/2023 Academic Year

The 21st Inauguration of the Academic Year at Jan Wyżykowski University is now behind us. The ceremony was filled with many special moments. The newly admitted students took their oath, followed by an inaugural lecture titled “The Evolution of Mining Law at the Turn of the 20th and 21st Centuries,” delivered by the President of the Higher Mining Authority, Adam Mirek, BEng, PhD.
Rector Dr. Tadeusz Kierzyk, Assoc. Prof., conferred the title of “DISTINGUISHED SERVICE TO THE UNIVERSITY.” The award was presented to Mr. Marek Świder – Vice President of the Management Board for Production at KGHM Polska Miedź S.A. – Mr. Przemysław Bożek – President of the Board of Directors of the Legnica Special Economic Zone S.A., Ms. Arleta Chorąży – Director of the Department of Employee Professional Efficiency at KGHM Polska Miedź S.A., as well as our lecturers Stanisław Piesiak, BEng, PhD, DSc, ProfTit of UJW and Mr. Michał Mulik, BEng, MSc
This year’s top graduates were also honored. The distinguished title of Primus Inter Pares 2022 was awarded to Ms. Katarzyna Kiekierz, B.A., and Ms. Edyta Pytlarz, MA In addition, the following students were honored: Aleksandra Podyma, B.A., Magdalena Ślebioda, B.A., and Agnieszka Kopeć, B.A. The Rector also recognized two graduates for writing outstanding theses: Ms. Karolina Trawicka, B.A., and Ms. Edyta Pytlarz, MA
The outstanding Miners’ Men’s Choir, conducted by Krzysztof Kujawski, provided the musical accompaniment for the ceremony.
Please be advised that the Opening Ceremony for the 2022/2023 Academic Year will take place on October 4 of this year at 12:00 p.m. in Auditorium B107 at the University’s main campus at 6b Skalników Street in Polkowice.
The program for the ceremony includes, among other things,

- Enrollment of First-Year Students
