Jan Wyżykowski University Convent

European Funds for Social Development, the Republic of Poland, and co-financing from the European Union.

On October 10, 2025, the first meeting of the Jan Wyżykowski University Convent was held. The Convent is an advisory and consultative body operating within the University’s structure, whose mission is to support the University’s educational, scientific, and organizational development. The Convent also aims to strengthen the University’s cooperation with the local community and the socio-economic environment, align the University’s activities with the needs of the labor market, and support students and graduates in shaping their career paths. Wiesław Wabik, Mayor of Polkowice, was appointed Chair of the UJW Convent; he accepted his letter of appointment from Rector Dr. Dariusz Zając, an Associate Professor at UJW. The Chair of the Convent then presented letters of appointment to the other participants in turn. The event was attended by representatives of institutions and companies collaborating with the University, including, among others: Epiroc, KGHM Polska Miedź S.A., KGHM ZANAM S.A., Leadec, Legnica Special Economic Zone S.A., the “Rudna” Mining Plant Branch of KGHM Polska Miedź S.A., PeBeKa S.A. Mine Construction Company, Wiesław Wabik, the Polish Copper Employers’ Association, Bosch Rexroth, Brose Sitech Group, CCC Group, INOVA Center for Technical Innovation, LLC, the Ore Enrichment Plants Branch of KGHM Polska Miedź S.A., Regional Mining Office, Polkowice County Employment Office, Sanden Manufacturing Europe, Polkowice County Office, Volkswagen, Social Insurance Institution (ZUS) – Legnica Branch, PMT Railway Lines, and the District Center for Psychological, Pedagogical, and Methodological Counseling in Polkowice. We would like to sincerely thank the meeting participants for their attendance and for the substantive discussion regarding the University’s future directions and opportunities to deepen cooperation with representatives of the local community and the business sector.
