UJW Returns to Radio Wrocław

On Monday, February 2, Renata Socha, PhD, a psychologist and coordinator of the UJW Academic Psychological Counselling Centre, appeared on Radio Wrocław in a current affairs program devoted to the ministry’s strategy for the development of higher education. The discussion focused on the changes taking place in the academic community and the challenges facing today’s universities. The program highlighted the fact that the student profile is undergoing significant changes – increasingly, students are balancing their studies with full-time work or returning to school after a several-year hiatus. As emphasized during the discussion, nearly half of all students are currently over 25 years old, which presents universities with new organizational and pedagogical challenges. Another key topic of discussion was the phenomenon of students dropping out of college. The conversation addressed the possible causes of this phenomenon and the role that student support measures – including access to psychological counseling – can play in reducing it.
