The Academic Psychological Counselling Centre (APP) will open soon in response to the growing need for mental health support among students. Its main goal is to provide professional psychological support and create conditions conducive to safe and effective functioning in the academic environment. The Counseling Center carries out initiatives aimed at preventing students from dropping out due to emotional difficulties, supporting their adaptation to the demands of academic life, and promoting mental health among the university community. The scope of the APP’s activities includes:
- individual psychological consultations – assessment of difficulties, short-term therapeutic support, crisis intervention, and referrals to specialized care,
- workshops and group sessions – designed to develop stress management skills, boost motivation and self-esteem, and build interpersonal skills,
- educational and preventive activities – mental health promotion, webinars, and training on coping with emotional difficulties,
- Support for faculty – training and consultations on recognizing and responding to signs of mental health crises among students.
The Academic Psychological Counselling Centre plays a key role in the university’s policy on promoting students’ mental well-being. Through its comprehensive approach, the APP helps effectively prevent crises, supports personal and academic development, and increases the chances of successfully completing one’s studies. All students will receive professional support from psychologists and therapists who will help them cope with stress, emotional difficulties, and the challenges of academic life. Psychological and therapeutic assistance will be free of charge for UJW students and staff. Detailed information regarding the Counseling Center’s operations and how to access its services will be provided shortly.
The activities will be carried out as part of the “Academic Compass: A Comprehensive Monitoring and Support Program at UJW” project. The project is being implemented under Measure 01.05, “Skills in Higher Education,” of the “European Funds for Social Development 2021–2027” program and is co-financed by the European Social Fund Plus.
