On June 2, 2026, the Second Meeting of the Jan Wyżykowski University Convent was held, during which representatives from business, industry, local governments, and public institutions discussed the future direction of education and how to adapt educational programs to the needs of the labor market. One of the main topics of the meeting was the study programs planned for the 2026–2027 academic year and the organization of professional internships. Employer representatives shared their experiences and observations regarding current internship arrangements, highlighting both their strengths and areas requiring improvement. The conclusions from the discussion will form the basis of the UJW Convent’s appeal to the Ministry of Science and Higher Education regarding planned changes to students’ practical training. Another key point of the meeting was the presentation of a new postgraduate program in underground mining. The initiative was well-received by industry representatives, who emphasized the growing demand for qualified specialists in this field. The meeting also addressed the competencies particularly valued by today’s employers. Among these were critical thinking, analytical skills, communication skills, social competencies, and the ability to work effectively in a team. Participants also presented proposals for further cooperation with the University, including the organization of postgraduate programs, courses, and specialized training sessions. We would like to thank all members of the Convent and invited guests for their active participation in the meeting and their valuable contribution to the development of the educational offerings at Jan Wyżykowski University. Cooperation between the academic community and representatives of the socio-economic sphere is a key element in building a modern educational system that meets the needs of today’s labor market.
These activities are carried out as part of the “Academic Compass: A Comprehensive Monitoring and Support Program at UJW” project, implemented under Measure 01.05 “Skills in Higher Education” of the European Funds for Social Development 2021–2027 program, co-financed by the European Social Fund Plus. #EuropeanFunds #EUFunds
