The Jan Wyżykowski University, together with the Social Welfare Center in Polkowice, once again organized an interdisciplinary conference dedicated to combating violence against children. This year’s edition was held under the slogan “Help Gives POWER,” emphasizing the importance of social engagement, education, and inter-institutional cooperation in protecting the youngest members of society. The event was attended by experts representing various fields of academia and practice, who shared research findings and professional experiences in the area of violence prevention. The speakers were:

  • Barbara Pawełko, PhD–Czajka (University of Lower Silesia, DSW)
  • Małgorzata Michel, PhD, DSc, Prof. at the Jagiellonian University (UJ)
  • Marek Mudant, PhD
  • Iwona Mazur, PhD (Piastów Śląskich Medical University in Wrocław)
  • Renata Socha, PhD (Jan Wyżykowski University)

During the conference, participants discussed key challenges related to hate speech, cyberbullying, protecting children in the digital space, and building relationships based on mutual respect and trust. Participants had the opportunity to share their experiences and discuss effective ways to support children and youth. During the break, a gallery of contest entries titled “I Have the Power Within Me. Each of Us Is a Superhero” was presented, showcasing the children’s creativity, sensitivity, and positive outlook on their own agency and inner strength. The event is part of the nationwide “Childhood Without Violence” campaign and represents an important step toward building a safe and supportive environment for children and youth. We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to all the speakers for their insightful presentations and to the participants for their active involvement in the conference.
