Grand Opening of the Academic Psychological Counselling Centre at Jan Wyżykowski University

On July 30, 2026, the Jan Wyżykowski University held a grand opening ceremony for the Academic Psychological Counselling Centre – a new facility dedicated to providing free, professional, and confidential psychological support to students and university staff.
The event began with a press briefing, during which the Center’s operating principles, the scope of support offered, and the significance of this initiative for the academic community were presented. This was followed by a symbolic ribbon-cutting ceremony, officially inaugurating the new space.
Representatives of the administration of Jan Wyżykowski University attended the ceremony:
- Dariusz Zając, PhD, Assoc. Prof. – Rector of the Jan Wyżykowski University,
- Edyta Zarecka, BEng, MSc – Chancellor of the Jan Wyżykowski University,
- Rafał Czachor, PhD, DSc, Assoc. Prof. – Dean of the Faculty of Social and Technical Sciences.
The invited guests also included representatives of local government:
- Wiesław Wabik – Mayor of Polkowice,
- Kamil Ciupak – Polkowice County Administrator,
as well as representatives of partner institutions and social welfare agencies:
- Beata Puławska – Director of the Social Welfare Center in Polkowice,
- Agnieszka Woźniak – Director of the Polkowice County Family Assistance Center,
- Wiesław Ksenycz – Director of the District Center for Psychological and Pedagogical Counseling and Methodological Guidance in Polkowice,
- Elwira Staniecka – Deputy Director of the Center for Psychological Research and Assistance in Polkowice.
The event was hosted by representatives of the Academic Psychological Counselling Centre:
- Renata Socha, PhD – Coordinator of the Academic Psychological Counselling Centre,
- Joanna Mesjasz, PhD.
Marta hosted the ceremony.
The symbolic opening of the Academic Psychological Counselling Centre, marked by the cutting of a red ribbon, was performed jointly by: Dariusz Zając, PhD, Rector of the Jan Wyżykowski University, an Associate Professor at UJW, Wiesław Wabik, Mayor of Polkowice, Kamil Ciupak, Polkowice County Administrator, and Renata Socha, PhD, the Counseling Center’s coordinator.
After the official portion of the event, attendees had the opportunity to tour the newly opened consultation rooms at the Clinic, located in rooms 419 and 421.
Academic Psychological Counselling Centre
The Academic Psychological Counselling Centre was established to provide comprehensive psychological support to the entire academic community of Jan Wyżykowski University. As part of its activities, it offers free psychological consultations, short-term support, crisis intervention, and psychoeducational programs. It provides special care for people with disabilities and neurodiverse individuals.
Consultations are conducted both in person and online using MS Teams, Zoom, and Google Meet.
