End-of-Year Ceremony at the University of the Third Age in Polkowice

On June 18, 2025, the University of the Third Age in Polkowice held a ceremony marking the end of the academic year. The event was opened by the Mayor of Polkowice, Wiesław Wabik, followed by remarks from the Rector, Dariusz Zając, PhD, Assoc. Prof., who thanked the students and faculty for their hard work and dedication throughout the year. The official portion concluded with a speech by Ms. Wiesława Pomian, Chair of the PUTW Student Council, who summarized the past academic year on behalf of the university community. The highlight of the ceremony was a lecture by Włodzimierz Olszewski, PhD, an Associate Professor at UJW, titled “Human Enhancement: How to Take Control of Your Own Body and Mind,” which drew great interest from the audience. Following the official portion of the event, a charity picnic was held to support Agnieszka Szabaciuk, a resident of Polkowice. The gathering was designed to foster community spirit and featured numerous attractions. Participants had the opportunity to take part in fitness competitions led by Marta Frącz, dance classes with Zuzanna Sosna, and a disco featuring DJ Skylight. The event was also graced by the presence of motorcyclists and members of the Amcary Dolnośląskie association. Thanks to everyone’s joint efforts, we managed to raise nearly 4,300 zlotys. Every donation is a sign of immense care and solidarity, for which we sincerely thank everyone who joined us. We extend our special thanks to: the Polkowice Cultural Center and its Director Bogusław Godlewski, Agnieszka Kabanienko from the ONE Association Foundation, the team at Jan Wyżykowski University, the “Volunteers” Research Club, the seniors of the University of the Third Age in Polkowice for their contribution to organizing the event, Ms. Zofia Job and the “Koźliczanki” Rural Housewives’ Club, Magdalena Sołtys, the Village Head of Rynarcice, and DJ Skylight for their invaluable energy and presence; Zuzia Sośnia, Marta Frącz, Mateusz Dziągwa, and the Fatamorgana Band for their heart and dedication, the Amcary Dolnośląskie team, and the motorcyclists for their spectacular entrance and support. We also thank Agnieszka’s family and loved ones for their constant presence and support.
