Appointment of Jan Wyżykowski as Rector of the Jan Wyżykowski University
We are pleased to announce that Dariusz Zając, PhD, an Associate Professor at UJW at the Jan Wyżykowski University in Polkowice, has been appointed Rector of the university.

We are pleased to announce that Dariusz Zając, PhD, an Associate Professor at UJW, has been appointed Rector of the Jan Wyżykowski University in Polkowice, the only local government-run university in Poland. The new Rector received a positive recommendation from the university’s Senate and its founder, and on August 21 of this year, he began his term, which will last until August 31, 2026. Dariusz Zając, PhD is an educator with extensive administrative experience. For many years, he was associated with the Jan Wyżykowski University (formerly the Lower Silesian University of Entrepreneurship and Technology in Polkowice), where he served as Chancellor. He helped build the Polkowice university from the ground up into an institution offering 10 degree programs across two locations. His work during this period contributed to the university’s numerous successes, including securing international partners, developing research projects, improving the quality of education, and creating new degree programs. The new Rector has announced that his priority will be to continue and expand the university’s existing efforts to improve the quality of education and advance scientific research. Dariusz Zając also plans to strengthen international cooperation and forge closer ties with the industrial sector, which will allow for further increases in the innovation and competitiveness of the Jan Wyżykowski University. Dariusz Zając, PhD, Assoc. Prof. – Doctor of Law specializing in financial law. He earned his master’s degree from the Faculty of Law and Administration at the University of Warsaw, where he defended Poland’s first master’s thesis on the French cadastral tax. In December 2013, at the Department of Financial Law of the Faculty of Law, Administration, and Economics at the University of Wrocław, he defended his doctoral dissertation titled: “The Eligibility of Public Expenditures Financed from Non-Reimbursable EU Funds Under Regional Operational Programs.” His research interests focus on issues broadly related to financial law, EU funds, public finance, tax law, and local government. He has published several dozen scholarly works, including two monographs as a co-author. He has completed training internships at several European universities and has also taught courses abroad. He has extensive experience managing educational institutions at various levels and nearly 25 years of experience providing legal services to businesses and individuals through his law firm. He is fluent in French and English and has a basic knowledge of Latin, German, and Japanese.
