“Pioneers of Polish Copper” Scientific Conference

On June 14 of this year, the university hosted the “Pioneers of Polish Copper” Scientific Conference. The event was organized in cooperation with and with the support of KGHM Polska Miedź S.A. and the University of Wrocław. The conference was hosted by Paweł Greń, PhD, Assoc. Prof. and Vice-Rector for Development and Science.
The meeting was divided into three presentation exam sessions. The first exam session was chaired by Mariusz Jędrysek, PhD, DSc, ProfTit of the University of Wrocław; the second by Paweł Greń, PhD, Assoc. Prof. from Jan Wyżykowski University, and the third by Jan Zimroz, Chief Mining Officer at KGHM Polska Miedź S.A.
Many outstanding speakers gave presentations:
- Anna Górecka-Nowak (University of Wrocław) – Józef Zwierzycki, PhD, DSc, ProfTit – the author of the theory regarding the occurrence of copper ores in the Pre-Sudeten monocline.
- Alina Chrząstek (University of Wrocław) – Józef Zwierzycki’s Academic and Professional Activities in the Dutch East Indies (1914–1938).
- Jolanta Szczebak – Little-Known Aspects of Preserving the Memory of Józef Zwierzycki, PhD, DSc, ProfTit.
- Wanda Wdowiak, Anna Rachwalska (Jan Wyżykowski Society of Friends) – Jan Wyżykowski – A Man of Polish Copper.
- Paweł Raczyński (University of Wrocław) – Stare Zagłębie: A Testing Ground for Industry and Science.
- Robert Leszczyński, Mateusz Twardowski (KGHM Polska Miedź S.A.) – The History of Documenting Copper Ore Deposits in the Pre-Sudeten Monocline from the Perspective of KGHM Polska Miedź S.A.’s Operations
- Mateusz Mamczar (Jan Wyżykowski University) – Utilization of the Earth's Interior – Legal Aspects.
- Henryk Marszałek (University of Wrocław) – online connection with the Ignacy Domeyko Museum in La Serena, Chile. Ignacy Domeyko’s work and achievements in Chile
The invited guests also enjoyed a short concert titled “World Music Hits,” performed by the duo of Olek Miśkiewicz (accordion) and Damian Ciosek (guitar).
